Communist Mario is a theory originally presented
on www.murderize.com (but later made it's way across numerous
internet sites).
The original version of Super Mario from the NES game.
The theory states that the character of
Super Mario inside the
Super Mario Brothers NES game is actually an avatar for
Joseph Stalin, and the
game itself promotes a
Communist overthrow of peaceful governments.
The theory cites as examples Mario's color scheme, his family
resemblance, his flag of choice, his challenge of
King Koopa, and more.
The
theory is meant to be
tongue-in-cheek and humorous. It has become
an internet meme, spawning flash cartoons and games. Numorous
bloggers picked up on Communist Mario after its conception and has
led to many other theories being created based upon other
characters of the Mario series.
A similar theory has been made
about
The Smurfs and Communism.
