History

Confluence 1.0 was released on March 25, 2004. The stated purpose of Confluence 1.0 was "to build an application that was built to the requirements of an enterprise knowledge management system, without losing the essential, powerful simplicity of the wiki in the process." [5] In 2008 Confluence was awarded by ReadWriteWeb as one of the "Top 10 Enterprise Web Products of 2008".[6] In recent versions, Confluence seems to be evolving into part of an integrated collaboration platform.
