Congaplex is a dietary supplement distributed by Standard Process Inc. and sold through
"Health Care Professionals". The claim is that its thymus extracts
boost our body's immune system, although these statements have not
been verified by the Food and Drug Administration. One person (the
author of this article) did experience an accelerated recovery from
the common cold and associated congestion (got over it in 2 days)
while taking around 21 capsules a day, with seemingly no side
effects. This person then took the same doses of Congaplex again
when he had an outbreak of herpangina in his mouth (similar to canker
sores), and they seemed to clear up the viral-based blisters much
more quickly than normal (3 days vs. 10 days)... again with no
apparent side effects. Is there any scientific research on this
substance?
