Cordarounds are a style of pants created and sold by Lindland's Cordarounds in San Francisco, California. Initially, it was thought to be a small, two-man start up. The company was thought to be started by Chris Lindland and Enrique Landa. In reality however, it was an attempt by Levi Strauss and Company, a much larger corporation, to start small, niche, more creative brands.

Cordarounds resemble normal corduroy pants, but the wale are horizontal instead of vertical. Lindland's also sells jackets and skirts made with horizontal corduroy. The company operates under the motto or mission statement: "An evil Multinational corporation has to start somewhere..." Indeed.....

Lindland's Cordarounds are marketed by a staff of self styled geniuses. Initially thought to be spam, their targeted e-mail messages have created a loyal following. Readers get hooked and look forward to the next e-mail message, which in past have brought tears of joy to readers eyes and tantalized potential customers with items such as Discoball Rounds, one pair of pants made from horizontally arranged sequin material auctioned to the highest bidder on e-Bay, a matching pant and skirt set for lovers made from horizontally oriented red velvet-like material, and others. As I write, I am now attempting to procreate in order to get a pair of the recently launched line of baby clothes, due to be available in approximately 9 months.

Disputes and/or Additions to the Original Entry:

1. Perhaps said connection between Levi's and Cordarounds is the previous editor's assumption that the red tags on all Cordarounds articles are related to LS&O's "Red Tab Foundation - a unique nonprofit organization that assists Levi Strauss & Co. employees and retirees who are unable to pay for life's basic necessities due to unexpected emergencies." I am confident, while worthy, it is not.

2. Chris Lindland is a graduate of the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina. This verified information is proof alone that Cordarounds could not be a subsidiary of Levi's. While students from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University might go to work for an entrenched manufacturer of commodity garments like Levi Strauss, Kenan-Flagler students have a long established tradition of contributing value to society by relying on superior intellect as they seek to grow the small businesses that are the heart of our nation's economy.

  • 3. The rest of the story, as I understand it... Cordarounds are a style of pants created and sold by Lindland's Cordarounds in San Francisco, California. Initially, it was thought to be a small, two-man start up. Then, it was believed, to be an attempt by Levi Strauss and Company, a much larger corporation, to start small, niche, more creative brands. But today, due to the release of extremely classified documents, we can nearly be sure that Cordarounds were the brainchild of Harold Fairweather, a meteorologist working in the bowels of the Environmental Protection Agency. You see, Harold had long tried to warn the Congress and the President that global warming was a big problem that would bite Earth in the proverbial pants someday. But all his urgent emails and memos fell on deaf ears. As the evidence became clearer, the President wondered out loud to the Nation whether any concrete evidence could ever be found indicating the threat of global warming. Harold decided to take matters into his own hands. He gathered some of the Country's best scientists and held a scientific conference. After many days of brainstorming, the overwhelming issue that came to light was the effect of vertical corduroy friction (VCF) on the ambient temperature of the planet. It became obvious to everyone in the conference that VCF is a major factor in global warming. Luckily, it is also one of the easiest problems to correct. Harold realized that by simply turning the fabric 90 degrees before cutting out the pattern, VCF could be reduced and practically eliminated. So he started using an alias (Chris Lindland) and started up a small company, naming it Cordarounds. When some leaks occurred and the word started getting out that it was not just a really cool garment company, but a plan to reduce the effects of global warming, sales started to level off. Panicked, Harold (Chris) leaked a cover story about Levi Strauss starting Cordarounds. When people heard, the buzz began and sales skyrocketed, thus the world will be saved by the continual purchase of Cordarounds.
