.Taylor was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and raised solely by his mother.^ His father was already out of the picture by December 8, 1973, when Corey was born at what he describes as “the ghetto hospital in Des Moines.” Poor and with little in the way of job prospects, Corey’s mother essentially raised him and his younger sister on the road.
