The Cornerstone TeleVision Network is a
Christian broadcast and satellite television network based
in Wall,
Pennsylvania, United States. Its founder and CEO is Russ Bixler. The
network has 44 full-power and 56 low-power affiliate stations, and
it is on the Glorystar
satellite service.
History
In the late 1970s, Norma Bixler claimed to receive a vision from
God during a visit to the Christian Broadcasting
Network. The vision was for her and her husband, Russ Bixler, to build a
Christian television station near their home in Pittsburgh. Despite many
potential hurdles—financial, legal, personal, and logistical—Russ
eventually came to share the vision.
The Bixlers were helped along with way with prominent leaders
such as Pat
Robertson, Loren Cunningham, and Jim Bakker. With the
support of many volunteers and the talents of professionals such as
Bill Freeman, Oleen Eagle, Stan Scott, and Eleanor Clarke, the
vision of a Christian television station in Pittsburgh became a
reality.
That signal was first broadcast on Easter Sunday, April 15,
1979.
Programming
Cornerstone Television Network broadcasts 24 hours a day, 7 days
a week. Programming includes preachers, teachers, international
leaders, movies, documentaries, music, and holiday specials for
people of all ages.
The show "Origins" is a popular show on Cornerstone Television.
It focuses on creation science, disputes commonly
accepted scientific principles, and attempts to present scientific
evidence supporting a young earth.
