Cory Taylor Rasmus (born November 6, 1987 in Columbus, Georgia) is a right-handed pitcher in the Atlanta Braves organization. He was the second selection in the first round in the 2006 Atlanta Braves Draft. He is listed by the Braves as standing 6'1" and weighing 220 pounds. He is the younger brother of St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Colby Rasmus.

Little League career

Rasmus played as catcher for Phenix City National Little League during the 1999 Little League World Series. He finished the World Series batting .400. One of his many highlights of the regional tournament in St. Petersburg, Florida was picking off catcher Michael "Gator" Genz, a member of the Georgia team.

High school career

Rasmus attended Russell County High School in Seale, Alabama. He was selected to play in the 2005 Aflac All American Baseball Classic.[1]

Professional career

Rasmus was drafted by the Braves with the 38th pick in the first round of the 2006 MLB Draft. He was assigned to the Gulf Coast Braves (Rookie League) upon signing with the Braves on June 8, 2006. He missed the 2007 season due to shoulder surgery. He resumed pitching in the 2008 season. As of July 2009, he was playing in the Appalachian League for the Danville Braves.[2]
