Cosmopolitan Revival is a movement or gathering
influenced by art exhibitions and music events. The term indirectly
suggests the birth of a
kibbutz.
The Cosmopolitan Revival of New York in the year 2000
Preamble
==
World's Columbian
Exposition==

The
World's Columbian Exposition
was held in
Chicago in
1893 to celebrate the 400th
anniversary of
Christopher Columbus' discovery of the
New World. Chicago
bested
New York
City,
Washington, D.C. and
St. Louis,
Missouri for the honor of hosting the fair. The fair had a
profound effect on architecture, the arts, Chicago's self image and
American industrial optimism. The exposition was designed by
Daniel
Burnham. In essence, it was the prototype of what Burnham and
his colleagues thought a city should be. It was designed to follow
Beaux arts
principles of design: European Classical Architecture principles
based on symmetry and balance.
St Mark's Campanile
Collapse
St Mark's Campanile is the
bell tower of
St
Mark's Basilica in
Venice,
Italy,
located in the
St Mark's Piazza. This 98.6 meter tall
tower made of
brick is a
recognizable symbol of the city. St Mark's initial construction was
made in the
ninth century during the reign of
Pietro
Tribuno. Built on
Roman foundations), St Mark's was used as a
watch tower for
the
dock
which then occupied what is now the
Piazzetta
dei Leoncini. Construction was finished in the
twelfth century,
during the reign of
Domenico Morosini. The base of the
campanile is part of the logetta which housed the
barracks of the guard for the
Doge's
Palace. The logetta was built by
Sansovino,
completed in
1549 and extended
in
1663. In July of
1902, the north wall of the
tower began to show signs of a dangerous crack that in the
following days continued to grow. Finally, on Monday,
14 July, around 9:45am, the campanile
collapsed completely, also demolishing the logetta. Remarkably no
one was killed, except for the caretaker's cat.<ref>
</ref> Given the position of the campanile, the resulting
damage was relatively limited. Besides the logetta, only a corner
of Sansovino's library was destroyed. The
piera del bando,
a large porphory column from which laws used to be read, protected
the basilica itself. As it stands today, the tower is a
reconstruction completed in
1912 after the collapse of
1902.
