The Country Club of Troy is a private golf, tennis, and swimming club with restaurant and private event capabilities just outside the city of
Troy, NY.
It was established in 1925 and today has a few hundred members.
The club is small in comparison to other local country clubs (both by size and population), but includes a respectable 18 hole golf course and 5 tennis courts.
The course was designed by
Walter Travis and the CC of Troy is now a member of the
Walter J.
Travis Society.
The CC of Troy is sometimes coloquially known as "Troy Country Club" or "TCC", though these are not official names.
The mix up can lead to confusion with the Troy Country Club in
Troy, Alabama and
Troy, Ohio.
The physical address for the CC of Troy is 100 Country Club Rd, Troy, NY 12180, but the mailing address is PO Box 178, Troy, NY 12181.
Its coordinates are 42°43'33.33"N, 73°38'40.40"W.
Although its addresses are based in Troy, the CC of Troy is actually located in
Brunswick, situated between NY 2 (Brunswick Rd) and Pinewoods Ave.
Golf Course
The course was designed by Walter J.
Travis in 1926<ref> </ref>.
The course is 6412 yards long, 71 par, 71 rating, 122 slope, and is a member of the
United States Golf Association Golf Handicap and Information Network (USGA GHIN).
The course is generally considered challenging to players used to flat courses.
Many greens, including on holes 6, 10, 11, 14, and 15, will cause players strife because the respective greens are at a level above the fairway, typically causing an underestimation of distance when chipping to any of these greens.
The course contains a number of short par 3s, which can also be misleading.
Holes 2 and 15 are short, but almost completely surrounded by bunkers, making the hole much more difficult, and forcing the player to work on aiming the ball skillfully.
Hole 12 is downhill, which can cause a short drive.
The course has 3 par 3s (holes 2, 12, 15), 3 par 5s (holes 4, 7, 11) and 12 par 4s.
There is also a 300 yard driving range, practice green, and a new practice chipping green, which contains bunkers and rounded edges to work chipping and putting skills.
The following is a list of yardage and given par for each hole<ref> </ref>
