Crank Dat Batman is a single from the group
called
Pop
It Off Boyz (reportly written in 2005 and released in 2006) and
is a form of
snap
music, which means you snap with the music while dancing. The
exact release date of the single is unknown.
Dance
Like
many similar songs such as Crank That (Soulja Boy) and Crank Dat
Spiderman, it has a dance that goes along with it. The dance,
choreographed by a group of four young men known as the
Crank It
Boiz, was first released on YouTube as a fan-made video, soon
gaining momentum and is now known as the Crank Dat Batman's
official dance. Although they have not given an overall opinion,
The Pop It Off Boyz appear to approve of the dance as they have
mentioned the dance several times and added the Crank It Boiz's
video to their Myspace page.
Song controversy
There have
been several rumors about the song with many people claiming it to
be a
ripoff of rapper
Soulja Boy's song,
Crank That or
Crank Dat
Spiderman by
Crank Squad and many others saying that Crank
Dat Batman came first. Hearing this, the group posted the following
on their MySpace page and attempted to set everything
straight.
"We have got our own original style. And for the
record, the song Crank Dat Batman wuz made in the early 2005. We
juz put it out in da late 2006 and itz starting to blow up becuz we
have the video. Soo the Batman came out b4 da Supaman and da
Spidaman 'n junk. Don't get it twisted. But really, Supaman came
out first by my home boi playa c if yeen kno......"
