Crap I Drew On My Lunch Break is a webcomic written and drawn by Jin Wicked.

The comic premiered on 30 July 2003. It was originally, as the title suggests, a series of quick sketches the author drew on the lunch break of her day job. It has since evolved into a full-fledged twice-weekly web comic. The topics are largely autobiographical, but also include commentary on politics, celebrities, and pop culture.

The first hundred comics have been released in a print collection which has been through two editions. A second volume was released in 2005.

Characters

  • Main Characters
  • * Jin Wicked: Artist and author of the comic. Smartass, reclusive, and a workaholic with a twisted sense of humour. Loves animals, especially rodents. News junkie. Hobbies include sewing, crafting, photography, caring for houseplants and pets, independent study, shopping, travel, watching cartoons, and playing DDR. Occasionally seen in public having a cup of chai or getting a bite to eat. Centre-Leftist Libertarian. Agnostic. Phobic of butterflies and high ceilings. Self-proclaimed honourary Canadian.
  • * Matt: Jin's boyfriend and constant companion. Helps brainstorm ideas for comic scripts. Laid-back type and easy to talk to. Gets along with almost anyone. Two years younger than Jin. College student. Hobbies include computers, video games, working on his arcade cabinet, anime and manga, reading, movies, and music. Little bit of a slacker, but a hard worker when it counts. Took over four years of telling everyone he knows how much he hates his job to actually get a new one.
  • * The Rats: Jin's mischief. Comprised of five loveable, squishy, and cuddly rats. Likes pizza crusts, cookied rice, macaroni and cheese, cookies, fresh veggies and fruits, french fries, and pretty much anything else they can fit in their mouths. Hobbies include destroying cardboard boxes and tubes, throwing unwanted food and bedding outside their cage, and staring forlornly at any humans eating nearby. Currently all female. The ratlets have their own picture gallery on Jin's website.
  • * Brighton Howard: Fictional news anchor delivering stories with a heaping plate of smarmy bias and wit. Likes science, intellectual honesty, and cute girls with glasses. Dislikes people who try to legislate their religion, Jesus horses, and the fact that he is entirely made up. British, with an extremely charming accent.
  • Secondary and Retired Characters
  • * Tristan (aka Psychonaut): Jin's friend and an ex-boyfriend. Currently living in Germany with a sable ferret named Frettchen. Computer scientist, talented writer, and linguist. Geek. Uses Linux. Speaks way too many languages. Constantly corrects Jin's grammar and spelling in real life. Very tall.
  • * Cory!!: Jin's friend; a prolific novelist, and the writer of Jin's other webcomic, Asylum on 5th Street. Doesn't appear in a lot of Lunch Break comics, but has helped write quite a few. Another workaholic whose hobbies include ranting, comic books, playing poker, and movies. But mostly working and writing. Likes redheads and pie.
  • * George W. Bush: 43rd President of the United States.
  • * Jin's Pets: Besides rats, Jin has or has had other pets: including hermit crabs, fish, and mice. They've only collectively had a few comics devoted to them.
  • * Josh: Jin's room-mate at the beginning of Lunch Break, until comic #145. Likes fine wine and cigars, cooking large slabs of meat, homebrewing, and wearing spandex shorts with padding in the ass. Made his most recent, and also final, appearance in comic #190.
  • * Rob: One of Matt's best friends; made a few guest appearances in the beginning comics, including drawing comic #025. Doesn't really see Jin anymore, so unlikely to appear in any future ones. Writer and poet.
