Creatology is an interdisciplinary science about the creative functions.
The term
creatology was first introduced and proposed by a Hungarian scholar
Dr. Istvan Magyari-Beck in his presentation "About the Necessity of Complex Creatology" made on the International Sociology of Science Conference in Budapest, in 1977.
In 1979, this paper was published in the book Sociology of Science and Research, edited by János Farkas, Akadémiai Kiadó, Budapest, pp.175-182.
A number of disciplines can contribute to the studies in Creatology.
For example: science of culture, sociology, history (general, of art, sciences, technology and so on), theory of organization, innovatics, economics, psychology, brain science, philosophy, ethology, anthropology, politology, education.
It is possible to distinguish Creatology as a basic science and applied Creatology.

A number of important problems, which cannot even posed correctly can be formulated and solved in the framework of Creatology.
E.g. the specializations of cultures, measurement of creative products, the unique place of culture in anthropogenesis, social conditions of mental health, the language theory of arts, creative paradigm in economy, to mention just a few.
