Cripes is a word often used to express
shock or dismay. For example, "Cripes, I didn't
expect you to purchase such a large lemon." The word is thought to be a mutation of the
title given to that famous carpenter's son, Christ.
The word "cripes" is becoming
common amongst some British young people, particularly those who
consider themselves to be geeks.
