Croatian women's national ice hockey team represents Croatia in ice hockey. It is governed by Croatian Ice Hockey Federation.


Seeing that in Croatia (by status since January 2008) there is only one women's ice hockey club Grič its players are also the only members of the national team. From season 2006/2007 Grič players have been participating in the Slovenian league, along with Slovenian and one Austrian club.

For several years they have also been participating in an exceptionally strong EWHL (Elite Women's Hockey League) with clubs established in the hockey-playing countries (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Austria and Slovenia).[1]

International competitions

In the year 2007 Croatian team was the first time involved in the World Championship competition. In the Division IV the team achieved a big surprise by winning gold medal and was launched in the Division III.[2] For the first time the team entered the world ranking as the 31st (of 34) national team in the world.

In 2008 on World Championships Division III in Hungary the team won the third place and the bronze medal behind Great Britain and Slovenia. At the same championship Croatia beaten Hungary and Belgium and lost from South Korea in extra time. On the 2008 world ranking team finished in the 30th place. In 2009 Croatia will be competing in Division III with Australia, Slovenia, Belgium, Hungary and Iceland.

In 2008 the team participated in qualifying tournament for the Winter Olympic Games 2010 in Vancouver. They lost from Slovakia, Latvia and Italy and beaten Bulgaria. They won 4th place.
