Crush calculator is a site that supposedly tells people if they have a chance with the love of their dreams. In actuality, it emails your name and your crushes to the email address of someone. As of late January 2006, the site enjoys a 5,000 Alexa rank and, as per Yahoo, 23,000 incoming links.

Once you set up your account you are emailed a link to send to your friends. After that you send that link around and people enter their name and tha name of their crush apparently to tell you how "compatible" you are. In reality, the site just emails what you said to the person who originally made the link.

However, there have been many incidents of false input, i.e. where people write a friend's name instead of their own and with it 3 people their friend supposedly fancies.

Privacy

According to the site terms of service, by using the site, site visitors permit it to share any submitted personal information to any third party.




This webpage is horrible! Do not get fooled into it like I did! Also there is no way to stop the e mail from being sent to the person who created the link. It is embaressing and humiliating, so you have been warned!
