CryoTech was the first commercial cryogenics firm founded by
Ed Busch in the late
1960s. It was established in Detroit, MI and was later acquired by
300 Below, Inc. in
Decatur, IL in the early 21st century. Cryo-Tech's website, which
used to be an excellent source to cite research information from,
has since been shutdown and moved to 300 Below's website on the
internet. There is still some useful information that was copied
over from the CryoTech website though, and remains now on 300
Below's site from what can be seen.
One of the most interesting
applications of cryogenic technology was seen during the
Statue
of Liberty reconstruction effort of the 1980s when pieces of
the statue were sent to CryoTech for cryogenic treatment in order
to extend the life and strengthen the upper regions of the
statue.
