cs_assault is a popular map (Hostage Rescue type) in the first-person shooter game
Counter-Strike and is set in a warehouse.
Overview
Screenshot of warehouse interior
The map consists of a warehouse with two floors and the neighboring city.
The four hostages are located in a safe room in the second floor of the warehouse.
There are three entry points into the warehouse; the front door, back door, and air vent.
The front door is perhaps the most obvious because it is very open and anyone looking at it can see incoming players.
The back door is more covert as it is located right behind some boxes, but the door makes a lot of noise when opening and it is easy to camp near the door to shoot incoming players.
The vent is the best entrance as there are two ways to get into it and two ways to get out.
Two ladders (one alongside some boxes outside and one on the outside of the building) lead to the vent and from there, a player can jump out on the second floor hallway or directly in front of the aforementioned safe room.
Criticisms of cs_assault

spawn
In this map, the counter terrorists spawn outside their truck in the city surrounding the warehouse.
The terrorists spawn with the warehouse, either near the hostage point or on the lower level near the front entrance.
Assault is often criticized as being unfairly balanced to the advantage of the Terrorists.
From the upper level Terrorist spawn point, a terrorist can snipe at CTs entering through the front or back entrances.
Additionally, they can hide in a part of the vent with an AWP and kill any incoming CTs before the CT has a chance to shoot back, a practice that is referred to in some servers, particularly 24/7 cs_assault servers, as "vent-
camping" and is usually frowned upon by both CTs and Ts.
To help themselves, CTs often use flashbangs when entering the vent, but a skilled Terrorist can shoot at the CT even if he is blinded.
Additionally, the Hostages are in a safe room with a loud, electric door.
A Terrorist can easily camp near the hostages, hear the door open, and open fire upon the rescuers.
Uniqueness
The map contains several features that are unique to it.
For instance, there are cameras (which cannot be destroyed by gunfire) all around the map.
From the Hostage spawn point, the Terrorists can watch the CT movements and see which entrance they are going to use.
The CTs, alternatively, can view the warehouse cameras from their truck and can see where the Terrorists are camping.
The cameras make the game much more interactive, but unfortunately, Bots never use them (The cameras are removed in the Source variant.) Also, there is a building near the truck from which players can camp.
It is relatively simple for a Terrorist to allow the hostages to be taken and simply snipe at them from atop the building when they return to the Hostage Rescue Point.
