Cult.bg is a portal site and cultural server presenting contemporary art and culture in Bulgaria. The project started in 2000 with the mission to fill the lack of an active specialized media in the field of art and culture that presents what happens in the cultural scene in Bulgaria and analyzes the ongoing processes. The other main goal was its development into a community network where players from different social, and cultural groups can communicate, present ideas, make collaborations and joint tactical activities on a wide local and international level.

Nowadays Cult.bg is the most popular and informative website for contemporary art and culture in Bulgaria. Due to its open structure, it has managed to involve in its content feed-in most of the cultural institutions, art organizations and artists in Bulgaria.

Currently Cult.bg includes:

The portal site, or the magazine part of the project provides access to information and comments about events and projects in the field of visual arts, theater, cinema, music and literature. There are two other categories – Free Style, where all articles about interdisciplinary projects and events take place, and DotCult devoted to net based activities and issues in the field of art and culture. Every category has several sub-sections in order to better reflect the art scene – on one hand posting announcements of upcoming events and on other - publishing reviews and analysis on initiatives and projects that have already taken place. Encouraging the active contribution of the users every category contains an on-line form for sending an article. The feedback from the users and the debate on particular issues find its place in comments option bellow every article.

The bulletin section of Cult.bg provides current and useful information for upcoming competitions, applications for grants and calls for participation in local and international festivals. The Bulletin also provides a weekly program of theaters and cinemas in Sofia as well as hyper-links to websites, presenting art and culture. The Calendar of events informs for up-coming events in Sofia and the country.

Cult.bg provides some free services to its users, such as web hosting, mail boxes @cult.bg, and the mailing list art:box

Cult.bg is oriented to a large number of users, devided into two groups:

Professionals, working in the area of the arts and culture - they present and promote their activities, receive useful information, make professional contacts and collaborations, study the current development and processes.

The second, larger group - web users interested in arts and culture, who find interesting and useful information in this area. They also take part in discussions of issues which are provoked by art/culture practitioners.

Cult.bg is an independent project developed by InterSpace Media Art Centre and sicne 2005 maintained by Cult.bg Foundation. Cult.bg Server is presently run on voluntary basis by its team.
