Cumberland Valley counties
The Great Appalachian Valley includes the 7) Cumberland Valley ("Cow Valley"), depicted east of the Appalachian escarpment between the 6) Lebanon and 8) Shenandoah Valleys.

The Cumberland Valley is a North American agricultural region within the Atlantic Seaboard watershed between the Ridge-and-Valley Appalachians (such as the Bear Pond Mountains) to the west, South Mountain (Maryland and Pennsylvania) to the east, and Blue Mountain (Pennsylvania) to the north. It is bound to the northeast by the Susquehanna River, and its southern terminus is the Potomac River.

The Cumberland Valley Railroad, Cumberland Valley School District, and the Cumberland Valley AVA are named for the region. The southern part of Cumberland Valley is the Hagerstown Valley, and the cities of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and Hagerstown, Maryland are located in the Cumberland Valley.
