Cyberchat

Cyberchat (or CC) is a PHPMyChat driven website owned by the RPG host network, however on a different server (http://www.nexxuschat.com). The chat is a major development on PHPMyChat and the coding has been changed to remove security flaws, add features and aid users through different developments. Lag issues have been severly reduced.

Cyberchat is a roleplaying chat with a userbase of over 1000 registered characters, last time was checked. The range of roleplay is from novice to expierenced and many different forms of roleplaying are played out throughout the chat.

The Nexxus

Cyberchat has become known as The Nexxus by some of its more regular inhabitants, a place where all time and place collides, allowing differet timelines and universes to roleplay together in different settings that they would and give users a reason to be able to roleplay their medieval character with a sci-fi type character. This allows players to create their own rooms based on any time period as well.

The Nexxus has some default rooms, created by the System Operators, that are always around and signify mundane places:
<ul>
<li>Tavern</li>
<li>Cemetery</li>
<li>City_Streets</li>
<li>Coliseum</li>
<li>Forest</li>
<li>OpenPlains</li>
<li>Park</li>
<li>Theater</li>
</ul>
These rooms are used for freeform roleplay and are all regulated by the staff.

There are also two lots of OOC rooms that allow users to congregate and talk to each other as themselves to other people. These rooms are:
<ul>
<li>Construct-OOC</li>
<li>OOC-Room(Unmoderated)</li>
</ul>
The Construct-OOC room is known within the chat to house some of the more experienced roleplayers, but also some unruley users, known to be callous and rather mean to each other. Some users within the Construct have a tight knit of friends and tend to stick to their own friends more than anyone else. Though, while the Construct is sometimes an unruly place to be, it can be a place to find help, though some users take time out of their schedules to actually insult others who do not have a "perfect" spelling capability.

The OOC-Room(Unmoderated) is a mostly unused room, but was created for users who were "whining" (to be blunt) about the amount of rules within the OOC room. Though they got what they wanted, its not used and rarely anybody visits it.

The Staff

The staff are split into 3 categories; "Admin", "Global Moderator" and "Moderator". They are charged with the upkeep of the rules of the chat. The chat has little In Character (IC) rules, however, the Out of Character (OOC) rules are to be enforced by all the staff, so most staff can be found in the Construct-OOC overseeing the general public and the rowdy users of Cyberchat.

Types of Roleplay

Cyberchat, as previously stated, is a Nexxus, allowing users to integrate different genres of Roleplay and allows characters from completely different "places" (Time and Space) to intereact with each other. It's not that uncommon to have a Ninja from Naruto interact with a super-powered Demi-God from a completely different time period or even series of cartoon / anime / TV / Whatever.

However, there are some cristisms about Cyberchat's roleplay, normally from the more "veteran" like users (those who have been around for a long time), that the roleplay that goes on is overpowered and many characters are just "See how powerful you can be" and alot of RP fights that go on just end up in Out of Character squabbling.

There is a line between players, there are those who just want to RP for fun, playing a character they like from a series or film, or even coming up with something original just to have fun with their friends. The other side are those who revel in the "fight". They often are people who make their character the biggest and the baddest (or possibly cliché things) and go around trying to make everyone elses life a misery by "Random Attacks" with their super powered attacks.

This second side of Roleplaying has grown alot since the start of CC, originally there was very little and people just some form of Magic or Melee combatants to satisfy their attacking needs, and normally they fought with other fighting characters. Then it moved onto random attacks with more complicated things, like Psionics, that people didn't quite understand and the attacker would attempt to use this state of confusion to baffle the opponent into either dying or running, which then they'd claim was a "victory" to them. Soon after Psionics came into bloom, the next stage was Planear Manipulation. Two sides took to this; one thought it was great, using theories in the roleplay world to manipulate everything and anything through the use of psionics (like manipulating matter to create black holes, string theory to use Zero Point Energy and so on) and then there were those who thought these attacks were stupid and some even dubbed them "UberAttacku" (for fun).

The Tavern

The In Character Room called The Tavern has its own space to describe the nature of its being. The Tavern is the default room of Cyberchat and is often reduced to ruins by a single or a string of attacks that go on. There are some who have developed several theories on the Tavern. Here is the most popular:

The Tavern is a multidimensional structure with an infinite amount of walls / corners to create and lacks sufficient light to illuminate all these corners, making many "dark shady corners" for people to occupy. The Tavern is sparse in its arrangement of chairs and tables, but there are a series of dimension-manipulation pockets that float around that can cause certain positions to instantly change depending on who you want to talk to (For example, you may sit five tables away from someone, and then as soon as you wish to talk to that someone, you're sitting at the next table).
The Tavern is not actually situated anywhere, it is infact a free-floating wooden building that is outside the boundaries of space and time.
It co-exists across all boundaries and can appear anywhere instantly. This is to account for how people can enter into the Tavern from other places where other people entered into it. Also, scenary changes depending on whoever looks out a window.
The Tavern is destructible, but it has a regrowth rate so fast that it can generate itself depending on how fast people can think it exists, thus the Tavern is a metaphysical object based on the minds of every person within or viewing it.'
