Cynthia Leigh (born
May 26,
1984 in
New Orleans, Louisiana,
USA) is an internationally-known
cosplayer, semi-professional
model, and
net idol.
Her recent endeavors have lead her to also become a
photographer,
comic book colorist,
actress,
artist, and a
fashion designer.
She started cosplaying in March 2002 when she was introduced to the idea at
Crescent City Con.
A year later she began modeling at the urging of a friend, to obtain professional
photos of her costumes.
She later went on to do convention-based promotional work for
anime and
manga companies like
Anime Network (see
ADV Films).
In 2006 she start doing freelance
digital colorist work for
comic and
manga companies, like
Twisted Gate Entertainment, and writing articles for
Associated Content, and other online sources.
She also launched her own clothing line,
American Geiko, which is currently sold through her
Etsy shop, and has recently started shooting
stock photography.
She's currently penning a
manga and
wicca book while attending college in
New Orleans,LA.
She has become a celebrity within the cosplay world, as a
panelist for
Katsucon Animenext,
Numa Rei-No Con, Crescent City Con, CoastCon, & CoastCon Jr.
She has modeled at A-kon (2004), in
Cosplay: Catgirls and Other Critters by Stone Bridge Press (2006),
Cosplex,
Dragon*Con (2006),
Anime Network at
The National Show (2004).
She has worked as an extra in the films
A Perfect Day,
Just My Luck,
Locusts, and
Vampire Bats.
And she has worked as a
colorist for
Man of Prey by
Twisted Gate Entertainment as part of their "Classics Trade Paperback Vol 1.
Trivia
Cynthia enjoys going to the gun range and currently owns a black .12 gauge Mossberg pistol-grip shotgun with a black stock and grips. Her craziest jobs include being the Head Cheese Monger for a Cheese Shop and a babysitter for an exotic dancer. Her Step-Grandfather used to work for NASA under Wernher Von Braun in Huntsville, Alabama. She was in Who's Who Among High School Students for all four years she was in high school and recently made Who's Who Among Executive Women in 2006. Her cousin is Brenda Buenviaje, a famous filipino chef in Denver, Colorado. Though often pictured without them, she's been wearing eye glasses since she was 12 yrs old. She lived for 5 years in various cities throughout Orange County, California where her Father worked for the Disneyland Hotel, in Anaheim, California. She's done charity work all her life, most recently for Chinchuba Haunted House, a fund-raiser for Chinchuba Institute for Deaf and Hearing Impaired Children. When she was younger she both an altar girl and a girl scout. She's been wiccan since she was 14 years old. External links
