D.S.S. is a multi genre artist on the rise. After being qouted the artist said
I can do acoustic and blues and I like them, but I'm more partial to rock and punk rock.

The artist is scheduled to start touring borders stores this comping april. The artist began with acoustic blues songs on a simple myspace page, but After releasing one punk rock song entitled "blocked" the song reached over 600 plays the first day it was released. It's still unclear whether the borders tour will encorporate the artist's blues songs, punk rock songs or both.

The initials D.S.S. stand for Devin Sterling Stalford, which consequently isn't truly the artist's name. The artist's real name is Devin Sterling Backman. The name Stalford is the last name of the artist's biological father. When asked about it Devin said this

I chose this artist name, because first of all it's catchy, but that's not the real reason. I chose this name so that maybe when I start to get big and famous and all that jazz that my biological father would find me and possibly contact me. That's kind of what this whole quest is about. I really don't want to share anymore than that.

Devin admitted that these artists seem disorganized together, but said that his music comes from his disorganization.

When asked about touring and a contract Devin simply said

all I really want is fried chicken after every show. I'm not going to be an asshole about it and demand water specifically from lake titicaca that has been frozen and then melted at room temperature or something stupid like that. I just want fried chicken after my shows and to stop at every stupid little tourist trap I see. I love those things.

Devin has been known for spewing off strange sayings such as

"what's my dream you ask? I want to pick posies and rule the tri county area from the bathroom sink"

or

"If you tell me to just back I will kick you in the shins and then wonder why you're upset"

and on one occasion

"I'm sorry I don't speak crack baby"

Also note that Brandon Saunders the first has contributed to Devin Backmans music on occasion.

In 2006 the artist performed a cover of "Iris" by the goo goo dolls, which was a stunning performance, but it was the artists antics aboard the ship that were what got the place a buzz.

The artist was kicked off of the cruise ship's band's drumset. The artist had decided to play the drums up above the pool.

On the first day of the week long cruise the artist was speaking to one of the cruise ship's attendants. He was qouted saying

"You're all geniuses....and I think I love you" to which the cruise ship attendant replied "I love you too?" (note the attendant was from jamaica)

The cruise ship D.S.S. performed aboard was called "The Monarch of the Seas" and was a ship by the company [Royal Carribean[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_carribean]]
