DVD Talk is a website for DVD enthusiasts founded in January 1999 when DVDs and DVD players were first beginning to hit the market. The site was started by Geoffrey Kleinman with the purpose of creating an online resource to help people decide what to watch on DVD.^[1]

The site started in January 1999 as an online forum, an email newsletter, and a page of DVD news and reviews. As the site grew, it expanded to include a complete review database as well as regular columns including: The DVD Savant and Anime Talk. DVD Talk has over 50 writers and contributors who write DVD reviews, interviews, features, columns and more and a database of over 14,000 reviews for Region 1 DVDs.

In September 2007, DVD Talk was sold to Internet Brands.^[2] The adult section of the website was spun off and became XCritic.^[3]
