The term is derived from the word Hae (sometimes spelled as Hea), which refers to the state of being idle and lazy.
Note that this word cannot be found in the formal Cantonese language and cannot even be written out in Chinese.
Most probably it is a term invented by the Hong Kong teenagers, among whom this word has become extremely popular in daily usage.
By adding the word Dai (Chinese: 大, meaning largely or very) and the Englishsuffix-ism, Daihaerism stands for being very lazy.
It is somewhat similar to the Greek ideology of Hedonism, the pursuit of pleasure.
