From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Daily Nebraskan, established in 1901, is the student newspaper of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Although many journalism students work there, the Daily Nebraskan is independent of the University's College of Journalism and Mass Communications. The newspaper is entirely student-produced and managed. It has a longtime professional business manager, Dan Shattil.

The paper is published every school day during the fall and spring semesters and weekly during summer sessions. The DN has the fifth-largest circulation -- approximately 22,000 -- of all newspapers in the state of Nebraska.

The newspaper covers campus and Lincoln-area news, along with arts, entertainment, and sports. There is also an opinion page featuring student columnists.

The paper, once referred to as "The Rag", is now known as "The DN" to UNL students.
