Daire Hickey (b. 1986) is a former
public relations
officer and president of the
Union of Secondary Students. In
February
2002, at the age of
16 Daire Hickey became Public Relations Officer for the
Union of Secondary
Students(USS). He then went on to become the Union's 3rd
President. He is also the 33rd descendant of the man who invented
the dot under the question mark, an invention which has earned his
family considerable royalties, and which is expected to earn Daire
approximately €133,500,000 when he inherits his parents'
estate.
He is currently a student of
Trinity
College Dublin where he is an active member of the
University Philosophical
Society. In May
2005 he
was elected to the prestigious position of Secretary of this
society, following a round of midget-tossing which saw him launch
Jonas Anderson a distance of seventeen feet and three inches,
beating rival candidate Rory O'Sullivan by three feet and seven
inches.
Mr Hickey is an aspiring journalist and writes a weekly
column for
The
Corkman.
Daire has also written for the
Irish Examiner. He was
Teen Editor for
Online.ieDaire also
works closely with a number of orginasitions such as
EIL - Experimentation in International
Living NYCI. Hickey also served as a Director of
Blast, first setting up it's opertations
in Cork and then taking charge of their regular tours.
