Dakota Mayi Johnson (born October 4, 1989) is an American fashion model and actress. She is the daughter of actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith and the granddaughter of actress Tippi Hedren.

Dakota Johnson was born in Taylor, Texas and grew up mainly in Los Angeles, California. She also lived in San Francisco and attended The Hamlin School during the fourth grade, only for that year. She attended New Roads High School in Los Angeles and graduated in 2008.
In 1999, she was featured in the movie Crazy in Alabama alongside her real-life mother Melanie Griffifth.
She was voted Miss Golden Globe, 2006, and actually served as the first second-generation Miss Golden Globe in the Globes' history.[1][2]
In 2006, she signed with IMG Models[3] In 2009, she became the face of MANGO brand's jeans line. She did very little modeling as it was not her true interest. Once she graduated high school she signed with William Morris Agency and began to start her life. Now a working actress, she finished her first feature film, Beastly , alongside Vanessa Hudgens and Mary-Kate Olsen, in summer of 2009.[4]
On her mother's side, Dakota has a half-brother, Alexander, and a half-sister, Stella. On her father's side, she has half-brothers Jesse, Jasper and Deacon, and a half-sister Atherton Grace. Her parents dated for 4 years when her mother was a teenager, culminating in a six-month marriage in 1976. They remarried four months before Dakota's birth in 1989. Dakota's parents separated when she was 4 years old, and were divorced by early 1996. Her mother has been married to actor Antonio Banderas since May 1996.
She is good friends with Riley Keough.
