Dan Sandor
Dan Sandor is a candidate for city councillor
in the
Toronto municipal election,
2006 for Ward 38 -
Scarborough Centre.
Before entering
politics Sandor was a business consultant and activist. He
initiated
Brigadiers Law, a lobby group that wants to
amend the
Criminal Code of Canada to offer protection
for animals involved in law enforcement. On
February 24 2006 a motorist hit a police horse ridden
by a Toronto police officer. The officer was taken to hospital but
the horse, named
Brigadier, was so badly injured it had to
be put down at the scene. Witnesses alleged that the motorist ran
down the horse and rider deliberately. He was charged with
dangerous driving causing injury (to the officer), however there is
no additional penalty for injuring the horse.
[1867] [1868] Toronto city council subsequently
passed a motion urging the federal government to proceed with the
amendment.

never have had the opportunity to achieve such prestigious career
accomplishments.
