History

Dangerous Muse, New York City's electronic/rock duo, formed when Mike Furey and Tom Napack met as students at Fordham University. Furey, a singer-songwriter trained in piano, wanted to experiment with a more electronic sound and Napack, a musician-programmer, desired to collaborate with a lyricist. Their first recording, "The Rejection," which caught the attention of legendary record mogul Seymour Stein, marks the beginning of their symbiotic relationship.

In 2005 Stein offered the duo a demo deal with Sire Records and facilitated their signing to Cordless Recordings, a digital imprint of Warner Music Group. "The Rejection," their debut three-song EP, entered at #2 on the iTunes Dance album chart and held its position for weeks. "The Rejection" music video aired on MTV's Logo Network and in its second week went to #1 on the countdown. This success rallied significant press coverage for the duo in magazines, newspapers, and blogs. Highlights include: the cover of The Advocate's annual music issue, Perez Hilton's popular blog, and "Year End Ones to Watch" in the New York Daily News.

"Give Me Danger," their second single and digital EP, was released in Fall of 2006. This six-song EP comprised "The Rejection" EP and three new songs. Upon release, the EP debuted top ten on iTunes' Electronic album chart. With this continued momentum, the duo focused on live shows and toured in select cities across the United States. In Fall of 2007, Sire Records releases the band's version of Ministry favorite "Everyday Is Halloween" with an alternate version of "Give Me Danger."

Mike and Tom are currently finishing their debut album for Sire Records. Producers on the album include Bloodshy & Avant (Madonna, Britney Spears, Kylie), recording artist and producer Esthero, Ted Ottaviano (Book Of Love, Doubleplusgood), and Josh Harris (The Passengerz, Big Woodie). Release is expected in early 2010.

Dangerous Muse have resumed select performance dates and are developing their live show for their first national tour. Supporting them are Chris Kling on drums and Walls O'Mara on backing keyboards. The band recently made their television performance debut on MTV/Logo's New Now Next Awards, premiering June 7, with "Secret" from their forthcoming album.

On November 28 Dangerous Muse visited Brazil for a "DJing Night" in Gloria Club, São Paulo.

Dangerous Muse is in collaboration with H&M and Designers Against AIDS for the second annual Fashion Against AIDS Campaign. Their t-shirts are being sold in over 1,000 H&M stores in 30 countries, starting May 28, 2009. 25% of the sales go to Designers Against AIDS, UNFPA, YouthAIDS, and the MTV Staying Alive Foundation. Dangerous Muse join Katy Perry, Cyndi Lauper, N*E*R*D, Estelle, Yoko Ono, Tokio Hotel, Dita Von Teese, Robyn, Moby, Yelle, and Katharine Hamnett to spread awareness and to promote prevention of HIV/AIDS.

They appear as the band onstage playing covers of Sex Dwarf by Soft Cell and Girls Like You by Amanda Ghost in the feature film House of Boys starring Layke Anderson and Udo Kier.

On December 15, 2009, Dangerous Muse released their long awaited single and video for "I Want It All." This is their first release on Scarce Goods.
