Daniel Patrick Nicholas Samonas (born March 7, 1990 in Toronto, Canada) is a Canadian American actor.[1][2]

Background

Born in Toronto, Ontario, before he turned 11 Samonas attended Crosby Heights Secondary School in Richmond Hill where he met the infamous Cody Mason, Samonas moved to Coral Springs, Florida with his family when he was 11. There he did print modeling and became involved in theater.[3] He currently resides in Los Angeles, California. Most Known as Dean from Wizards of Waverly Place.

Career

After moving to Florida when he was 11,[2] Samonas became involved in print modeling and local theater. His first lead role was in Ephraim, after which he served in several more films until his first television spot in Everybody Hates Chris. He returned to film and in 2006 was cast in the ABC pilot Enemies.[4] This was followed by appearances in Zoey 101, Hannah Montana and repeated appearances as the voice of 'Teo" in Avatar:The Last Airbender. In 2006 he was cast as 'Meat' in The Last Day of Summer.[5][6] In 2008, Samonas made an appearance on iCarly as Freddie's fencing rival Doug Toder and later appeared on Disney Channel's Wizards of Waverly Place as Alex's (Selena Gomez) boyfriend Dean.[7]

Daniel Nicholas Patrick Samonas was born in Richmond Hill, Ontario, on March 7, 1990.

Daniel began acting and modeling at the tender age of 5 when he told his mom that he really wanted to be in magazines and on TV. Daniel was signed with an agent and booked 3 jobs in his first week! He continued to do well in both print and commercials.

At age 11, Daniel’s family moved to South Florida because of his father’s work. Daniel was immediately successful in the Miami area booking more than 60 print jobs in the first 4 months, as well as a few commercials. After taking some acting classes and working on several student films, the acting bug bit him.

He was really challenged in the film “Ephraim” where he portrayed a blind child who has the ability to touch people and feel their deepest secrets. This film won Daniel rave reviews!Daniel is now living in California where he continues to pursue his acting career.

Daniel is currently working on a made-for-TV movie for the Nickelodeon Channel – “The Last Day of Summer”. In this film, Daniel is playing the lead role of “Meat” – a Goth looking bully that terrorizes the sixth graders! A really fun role for Daniel to play!!

To date, Daniel has worked on 16 films (SAG, non-union, and student), as well as several print campaigns and some commercials. Daniel has had the lead role in three television pilots, the most recent one being “ENEMIES” for Touchstone Television and ABC Network. In this 1 hour drama, Daniel had the privilege of working with the talented director – F. Gary Gray.

Other TV credits include a guest star role on "Everybody Hates Chris", a recurring role on the Disney pilot “Bus Life”, a guest star role on the new Disney series "Hannah Montana", which was taped in front of a live audience, and a co-star role on Disney’s “Zoey 101” . Daniel also worked with the award winning director, Andrea Romano when he lent his voice for the character "Teo" on an episode of the Nickelodeon animated series - "Avatar". Daniel’s voice can also be heard on the new “Disney 365” jingle.

Daniel is very proud of the fact that he and his brother John (19) are very close.

In his spare time Daniel likes to go to the movies with friends, play X-box, and almost any sport! Rifle shooting has recently become a favorite past time. And of course, growing up in Canada he does play ice hockey!
