Daniel Kirby (born November 5, 1984) is an American sci-fi author, pillar of the Black Community, theoretical physicist, and film director.

Beginnings

Kirby was born to a wealthy family in the suburbs of Newark. Due to the rising number of hatecrimes and gangbabgs, he and his family moved to Highlands, New Jersey, where he attended St. Agnes School, known affectionately as "St. Fagnes." In the sixth grade, Daniel switched schools and attended the prestigious Hudson Academy, known for its excellence in academics and respectable students. There, he became fast friends with several students, most notably Tyler Osborn and Peter Maresca.

Life at Hudson Academy

At Hudson, Daniel excelled in areas of advanced math, like AP Calculus, and advanced courses in the sciences. He still holds the record at his school for taking the most AP classes ever. Upon graduating from school, Daniel was accepted to Columbia University--a first for Hudson Academy.

Life at Columbia

While at college, Daniel took a double major in English/Science. He graduated last year, summa cum laude. There, he met his current girlfriend, Disney Channel star Ashley Tisdale. The two have been seen cuddling together in public since 2005.

After College

Recently he published a collection of poems called Letters From the Hospital, to Aunt Gimli, which has received critical acclaim. Kirby has said in interviews that, "It is necessary to express the human sprit. I don't know what I'd do wiothout poetry." He also made an independent film called Bungle in the Jungle, which stars one of his high school classmates, Safya O'Rourke. This film is a send-up of the screen classic King Kong. Most famously, it involves O'Rourke in a Hieros Gamos sex rite.

Present Life

Kirby currently resides in Highlands, New Jersey, where he is writing a book called, The Mind of God. Kirby, an avowed atheist, has scoffed at the idea of God for ages. In this book, he talks about all theories of creation, and acknowledges the information published in Stephen Hawking's classic A Brief History of Time. In fact the title is a reference to the last sentence of A Brief History of Time, "...for then we would know the mind of God".

He's also working on a few fictional works, including two science fiction novels called Planetscape, and one with the working title of Pride of Planets. He's written several short stories, the most famous of which, Britannic is set to be released with his first short story collection, That Crazy Buck Rogers Stuff. He has described Britannic as "The Poseidon Adventure In Space, except good, and with terrorists".

Another short story, as yet untitled, said to be in the works is one or several on supposed "ancient astronaut theories". Kirby cites what he calls "paranoid kook-bags" such as Zecharia Sitchin and his theory on the Annunaki to loosely derive the possibility of ancient visitors from the stars. The theory put forth in Kirby's stories, as he describes it, is much more level headed than Sitchin's, however he also makes it clear that he is writing ficiton and not fact. "I'm trying to put into fiction some of the theories that so far have not. I think there's a lot of things in our solar system that beg further investigation, that doesn't mean there were ancient astronauts or anthing like in Mission to Mars or Stargate, but it's fun to write and read entertaining fiction about it."
