Description
DAPreview is an online website dedicated to news and reviews of Digital Audio Players.
It was founded in 2003 by Austin Vaughan & Robert Sinke and started out as a simple HTML website.
In 2004 the site was revamped and a content management system was installed.
Over the years DAPreview has had over 20 different themes.
There was a short cooperation between DAPreview and
Gizmodo that last from XX till XX, the so-called "DAP Delights".
A wrap-up of DAPreview's most interesting news items would appear on Gizmodo's frontpage on a (more or less) daily basis.
To cover news from the
DAP and
PMP industry DAPreview has been present at most major traid fairs which deal with these devices.
These include
CES 2005,
CeBIT 2005,
IFA 2005 and
CeBIT 2006.
DAPreview Crew
Currently DAPreview is maintained and operated by the site administrators and editors in their free time.
Robert Sinke was acting as a reviewer for the reputable Dutch tech website
Tweakers.net from 2003 till late 2004.
Between December 2004 and February 2005 Mr. Sinke dissapeared from the scene for personal reasons.
He lives in Belgium, where he is currently completing his university studies in software engineering.
Austin Vaughan mainly acts as the driving force behind all sites, maintaining servers & handling content management.
He lives in Kansas, America.
There are several voluntary moderators to help organizing the forums and aiding in news posting and reviewing players.
