Darah Rateb is a prominent Canadian-Egyptian
journalist who is famous for her controversial articles and

participating in numerous international conferences promoting peace
and an understanding of Islamic culture around the world. She was
part of the Amr Khaled

mission to Denmark to bridge the cultural gap created by the
Jyllands-Posten cartoons. Darah is also hitting Cairo's popular
talk shows, and is expected to join Moez Masoud

Islamic talk show host, this coming Ramadan in a series called
"Stairway to Paradise". Darah is the grand-daughter of the late
desginer Hussein Helmy of the prominent downtown Yacoubian
building, which was the subject of the novel and acclaimed film The
Yacoubian Building. In early 2007 she graduated with a double
major in Political Science and Finance from the AUC. Darah was the
sensation at the graduation party with critics heralding her sequin
studded veil, amber dress and her 'fresh' look. She is expected to
make another public appearance soon, and rumour has it she signed a
$7m deal with Chanel for their upcoming 'Exotic Cleo' campaign in
the Middle East, making her the 4th highest-paid model i the world
after Monica Belluci, Naomi Campbell and Britney Spears.
