Dark Lord Potter Forums

The Dark Lord Potter forums (commonly referred to as DLP or DLP.net) are a series of forums devoted to Harry Potter Fan Fiction and discussion, specifically of a subversive genre: most works found in the The Library, DLP's repository of works[664] tend to digress from canonical Rowling; these works are in sub-genres not limited to but including:

'Dark Harry' (featuring a Harry with malicious intent)

'Azkaban Fics' (wherein Harry is sent to Azkaban, commonly for crimes he did not commit)

'Time Travel Fics' (in which the Potter Characters utilize magic to travel in time, usually to effect some change in present time)

'Independent Harry' (which features Harry taking full control of his existence, usually to the scorn of Dumbledore)

...along with other less orthogonally-oriented genres, such as romance, comedy, and multi-work amalgamations (cross-overs), but with emphasis of placed on the former four.


DLP operates on the principles that:

Response to works submitted for review should be informative, critical, and honest

No works focusing on homosexual male relations (ie: slash fiction) should be accepted into The Library

Works accepted into The Library should be relatively free of cliché, unless the work is farcical or parody

Works accepted into The Library should be of good standard and free of poorly-written romance (for this reason, DLP rejects most works featuring a Harry/Ginny romantic pairing, citing that they are almost always poorly done)

DLP makes use of Internet Relay Chat for real-time discussion. In this spirit, DLP has a dedicated IRC server which is frequented by approximately 50 members; here, there are channels for Fan fiction and canon discussion (such as #TheStudy), and a channel for off-topic chat (such as #darklordpotter). The main server channel is #darklordpotter.
