Dark Oberon is an open source real-time strategy computer game similar to Warcraft II and Globulation, released under GPL. In contrast to other computer games its graphics and textures are created from photographs of real life models made out of plasticine. This and the atmospheric music provided by Lealoo gives the game a unique look and feel. The game originated as a coding project of some students on the Charles University in Prague.

As of October 2006 Release 1.0.2 seems near completion [331]. The rather missing AI doesn't allow real combat games for single players yet but simple maps that don't need this, like searching for objects or enemy bases, work fine. The maps are written in a code not quite like XML but are planned to be transformed to correct XML in the future.
