Band History
Dark Star Revolt was formed in S. Florida in
August 2005 by guitarist and composer Tim Malvita and drummer Aaron
Russell. The duo recruited singer and songwriter Jason Shafer who
sang in Oddball, a cover band that had Russell on drums. After a
couple of months of weekly practices in a Pompano Beach rehearsal
studio with a previous bandmate of Malvita's filling in on bass
guitar, Shafer welcomed bassist Chris Sanges, also a former member
of Oddball, to come into the studio and try out for the part in
this new original metal act. Sanges proved worthy and the lineup
was finalized. Dark Star Revolt have a unique sound that emerged
from diverse influences. Tim Malvita played in at least a dozen
bands prior to his role in Dark Star Revolt, including
Krank,
Twelve Sided, Kill The Silence, and the popular "shock rock"
group
Marilyn
Manson. After forming the band, DSR started to garner local
success doing live shows. Many of Dark Star Revolt's songs have
political undertones, and their true politics are thought by most
to be liberal. During the early months of 2006, several minor demos
were recorded including Driving Me Insane, News at Eleven, Nobody
Will Know, Machine, and Dead Presidents.
