Data Translation, or
DT ( ) is a
manufacturer of USB and PCI
data acquisition hardware, accompanying
software, and imaging products. The company's main customers are
OEM's, Engineers, and Scientists, involved in applications related
to test and measurement, sound and vibration, and imaging. Data
Translations main software offering for data acquisition is
Measure
Foundry; A graphical programming environment which provides the
flexibility of a programming language in a graphical user
environment.
History
Data Translation, founded in 1973 and
headquartered in Marlboro, Mass., is a leading supplier of data
acquisition software and hardware to the test and measurement
market. With expertise in the design of high-accuracy, high-quality
analog hardware and application software, the Company partners with
end users and OEMs alike to help them achieve their test and
measurement goals. With over thirty years of experience, customers
have come to rely on Data Translation because of its world-class
software, design proficiency, high-quality manufacturing, and
respected customer service. Data Translation has a worldwide
presence, with distribution in more then 40 countries and
subsidiaries in Germany and the U.K.
Thirty years of innovation
began with a data acquisition module that converted real-world
analog data to digital information that could be processed by a
computer. Several years later, Data Translation engineers developed
an industry breakthrough: the first multifunction data acquisition
board that was eventually ported to the PC. Today, the Company
continues its dominance in the hardware arena with the introduction
of new technology for USB, ranging from low-cost economical devices
to high performance modules combining high speed and high accuracy
with the power and convenience of USB. Even greater barriers were
broken with the introduction of the world's fastest simultaneous
USB data acquisition device with throughput rates up to 2.0MHz per
channel.
In 2001, the Company launched its own application
software package, Measure Foundry. This powerful test and
measurement software is a rapid application development environment
that allows anyone to easily and quickly create measurement
applications without programming. Using a drag and drop graphical
interface, combined with property pages, the user can create
sophisticated measurement solutions in a fraction of the time
needed with previous packages.
The emergence of synthetic
instruments and the new LXI-standard to support them spotlights the
advanced architecture used to create Measure Foundry. This opens up
a whole new market for aspect-oriented programming based packages.
Measure Foundry's patent-pending design is poised to become "The
Gold Standard for Synthetic Instruments". The promise of synthetic
instruments is the ability to change the capability of an
instrument through software. Beyond virtual instruments, which
represent a specific device, synthetic instruments allow a generic
device to be used as the instrument needed. Measure Foundry for
Synthetic Instruments provides a system solution for all instrument
classes supported by industry standards.
