Career

Between 1989 and 1997, Dave Benson Phillips was also a presenter on Playdays, especially its memorable "Playground Stop" segment, in which he enabled viewers to become knowledgeable about Makaton, a basic sign language which is typically used with special needs children. After Get Your Own Back discontinued production, he kept a busy work schedule in children's and preschool educational television, particularly for the BBC and Playhouse Disney.

In 1999 Dave worked on SGR Colchester, co-hosting a Saturady morning slot with close friend Michael "Snedderz" Sneddon. The show was unsuccessful and axed after 6 weeks.

He also hosted a local weekly segment every day on the Worthing, West Sussex radio station, 107.7 SPLASH FM. He produced a video of Makaton Nursery Rhymes in 2001, being a very rare example of sign language video recordings for children.
