Dave Jaspers is the former president of
Maranatha Baptist Bible
College in
Watertown, WI.
Dr. Jaspers graduated from
Marshalltown High School in 1971 and enrolled at Maranatha Baptist
Bible College. In 1976 he received a Bachelor of Science degree,
with majors in Bible and Pastoral Studies and a minor in History.
In 1994 Dr. Jaspers was honored with a Doctor of Divinity degree
from Ambassador Baptist College. Maranatha Baptist Bible College
bestowed upon him the honorary degree of Doctor of Sacred Theology
in 1999.
A third-generation, Baptist preacher, Dr. Jaspers
became pastor of the Sparlingville Baptist Church on July 11, 1976.
He also had the unique privilege of pastoring his home church,
Fellowship Baptist Church, Marshalltown, Iowa, which his father
started in 1961. He served as the president of the Iowa Chapter of
the American Association of Christian Schools and vice president of
the Iowa Mid-America Baptist Fellowship.
In 1986, after ten
years as a pastor, Dr. Jaspers entered full-time evangelism. He has
preached over 600 revival meetings in 46 states and 8 foreign
countries. In 1994 Dr. Bill Rice III asked him to become Summer
Platform Director for West Branch, a camping ministry of the Bill
Rice Ranch, located in Flagstaff, Arizona. He took the
responsibility of Camp Director in 1997, while maintaining a full
revival schedule.
Dr. Jaspers became president of Maranatha in
January of 1999. Through out his years there he became popular with
the student body who affectionatly called him "Dr. J." On May 11,
2006, Dr. Jaspers resigned from the presidency, citing personal
reasons. The Board of Trustees named Dr. Larry Oats, long-time
faculty member and head of the Bible department, interim president.
Dr. J was accused of falsely by four unknown mysteries women
without any evidence to back up there claim. And MBBC more
concerned about Public Image than the Truth dropped Jaspers because
the board figured it would just be easier then to go through a
public or private investigation. What matters is the truth, and
there seems to be very little effort going on publicly to unveil
that truth by Maranatha. Dr Jaspers was a target for some people in
the community who did not like MBBC. The burden of proof always
lies with the accusers not the accused. Wild allegations should not
be allowed to take a good man down. Only in fundamentalist circles
do you see people railroaded on the grounds of rumor and
speculation. They have destroyed a very good man's ministry of
decades over the alleged accusations of a few women who they don't
even know. No charges were filed with the police or in civil
court.
