Dave Roush, born on
November 15,
1981, is a news reporter originally from
DuBois,
Pennsylvania. He currently works for
News 12 The Bronx
in New York City. He moved to News 12 after spending three years as
the DuBois Region Bureau Chief for
NBC affiliate
WJAC-TV, Channel 6 News based in
Johnstown, Pennsylvania. While at
Channel 6 News, he broadcasted live from Gobbler's Knob, each
Groundhog
Day.
Roush's interest in broadcasting began in the fourth
grade, after taking a tour of the Sunny 99
WDSN radio station in his hometown. He and several
other students are credited with starting an after-school
extracurricular television broadcasting program at the DuBois Area
Middle School. The program has evolved to become a live morning
news broadcast.
In high school, Roush began working at the same
radio station he toured in the fourth grade, as an on-air
personality and news reporter. A year later, he began writing for
the DuBois Courier-Express and Tri-County Sunday newspapers as a
student correspondent.
Roush studied Journalism and Communication
Arts and Sciences at the
Penn State University from 2000 to
2004. In addition to earning admission to the
Schreyer
Honors College, he was President of the local chapter of Kappa
Tau Alpha honor society in Journalism. He earned a William Randolph
Hearst Award for Excellence in student Journalism.
Roush worked
as an intern with
NY1 in
New York
City from January to June 2004 before starting with
WJAC-TV a month
later.
In his spare time, Roush is a performing stage hypnotist
and close-up card magician. He is an active member of the
Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia national music
fraternity. He also serves as a contributing author to the
fraternity's national alumni publication, "The Sinfonian."
Roush
now lives in the
Throgs Neck section of
the Bronx in
New York City.Dave Roush is an Eagle
Scout and also produced segments for Our Town: Dubois, which was
featured on a local PBS affiliate.
