Dave Zarzycki is a Senior Engineer in the BSD
Technology Group at
Apple Computer. He is the designer and
maintainer of
launchd, a
core
operating system component, which was
introduced with the
10.4 release of Apple's
Mac OS X operating system.
In
March
2000, after working as
an intern at Apple for a number of years, Dave became a full time
employee assigned to work on the
Darwin operating system that Mac
OS X is built on.<ref> </ref> Although other developers
already worked on Darwin, Dave was the first developer to be hired
solely to work on Darwin.<ref> </ref>
After the
release of Mac OS X v10.4, Dave spoke at a number of conferences
about the changes in 10.4, including
USENIX 2005 and
O'Reilly Open Source Convention
2005.
Dave is also the founder of a
community network
in the
South Bay area of
California.
