David Jason Silver born (November 17, 1967– was an designated striker Quartermaster Seaman of the United States Navy who distinguished himself during the Bosnian War and Yugoslav war, enforcing the famous Dayton Peace Accord, signed a second time in Paris, France. The accord was said to halt the Balkan wars and Yugoslav wars. Silver served during the President Bill Clinton administration.

Navy


Silver, born in Bellevue, Washington to a Jewish family, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1994, following his graduation from Arizona State University. He attended boot camp Naval Station Great Lakes, Chicago. In April, 1995 Seaman Silver reported to the Oliver Hazard Perry class frigate combat war ship USS Simpson [70], considered by historians as the second US frigate in Naval history to sink an enemy combatant. It saw action in the Persian Gulf during 1988, when it destroyed an Iranian patrol boat and launched missles to defend numeous war ships. In November of that year, his command was assigned as part of Standing Naval Forces Atlantic, Operation Joint Endeavor and Operation Sharp Guard to enforce UN sanctions spelled out in the Dayton Peace Accord. On November 20, 1995 the Accord was officially signed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio.
