David Kumar (born
September 18,
1991) is a
Canadian actor and
model, best known for his role portraying
Tommy Lee on
Degrassi: The Next
Generation Season 2, starting the show
Veronica Mars, and
being a model for the clothing line appearing in the noted
magazine,
Japanese
Vogue.
David was born to overjoyed parents on
September 18th, 1991. He was the first child of the small family,
and would go through much before he became the person he is
today.
From his birth, he was raised in central scarborough. It
was a rough neighbourhood, and David blossomed under the
circumstances. But the dangerous enviroment was not the one that
Mrs. Kumar dreamed of when she left Guyana. And so, after 11 years
of growing in Scarborough, David moved to the then undeveloped
Markham.
David's begininnings in Markham were rocky. His peers
mocked his once celebrated flamboyant personality. He was really
upset everyday and saw life as a meaningless waste of time. But,
over some time, his peers accepted him and he was happy once
more.
His happiness was shortlived however, since his emotional
personal life was taking a huge toll on his grades. He failed 7 of
his subjects in Grade 7. In Grade 8, things started to look up for
David. His grades were good, and he started to fall in love with
his arts again. He once again picked up his modelling, acting, and
singing. He was a unanimous nominee for the drama award at his
grade 8 graduation. He was then signed to a talent company.
His
life was in line until one fateful day, when he heard the news that
his uncle died of kidney failure. His uncle had been an alcoholic
for years, and his care free ways had finally caught up to him. And
that was the first Funeral he ever attended. This depressed him
greatly, and when he returned, his spirit had been bashed once
again.
His father's health had also been declining since these
turn of events had taken place. As they soon found out, his
condition could have been fatal. His father had contracted a brain
tumour and had to go to rehab for 3 months. Without the support of
his father, David felt he could not handle the blow of his
grandfather's accident.
His grandfather had been visitng
Guyana, as he did every year. However, with his old age, and his
relatives not treating him well, and him slipping and falling, he
had a blood clot in his brain. If he didn't go into surgery soon,
he would definitely die. He chose not to do the operation, and
David had to watch him go through losing his voice, his strength,
and lose his eyesight. Then, one Saturday, they were about to visit
him, when the phone rang. His grandfather had died.
And now,
David coping with the losses in his life, boldly faces his
adversarys and shows no fear. Though he is still judged, he is
slowly coming out of his shell. Out of all his tragedies and drama,
David comes out as a true survivor
