Biography
David Lally was born in Co. Galway, Ireland. He formed a rock band
with 4 friends in the early nineties, and they recorded a demo
featured on radio.
After leaving high school, Lally attended a Music College, before
going on to receive credentials in Journalism. Over the next 6
years, he traveled across America, the UK, mainland Europe and
India.
Lally moved to the US in 1995.
In 1999 Lally met fellow Galway man,
Ned Giblin, in
Carlsbad,
California. Over the past six years, their band,
Brehon Law, has racked up
hundreds of gigs, including American television and radio
appearances, and has been flown to venues in both the US and
Ireland to perform.
Brehon Law Live at
Tom Giblin’s was recorded in 2001.
Lally also works as a writer, has hosted a morning show on an
alternative San Diego radio station. He spent 6 months in Mexico on
the set of
Master and Commander –
Russell Crowe’s sailing
blockbuster.
Early in 2005, he co-organized a music festival to aid the orphans
of the Tsunami disaster. Joining forces with Ned and Brenda Giblin,
the event raised over $30,000 for UNICEF, with participating
artists such as
Nickel Creek’s Sara & Sean Watkins,
Flogging
Molly’s Matt Hensley, and Manhattan Transfer guitarist, Wayne
Johnson. Major TV networks and local media covered the incredible
turnout.
In 2005, he started a music label to release his debut CD,
OftenOne. Lally’s solo career has
begun to take off with alternative radio airplay of
OftenOne. His music is a combination
of folk and electronica he terms,
Folktronic. Beginning to catch the attention of
media, summer dates in California, Ireland and the U.K. further
spread word of this singer/songwriter’s performances.
