The Naze Tower Daymark

A daymark is a structure such as a tower constructed on land as an aid to navigation by sailors. While similar in concept to a lighthouse, a daymark does not have a light and so can only be used during the day.

Examples of daymarks can be found at Walton-on-the-Naze and St Martin's, Isles of Scilly.

The term daymark may also refer to the pattern in which a lighthouse is painted, making it more easily identifiable during the day, and many disused lighthouses remain useful daymarks.
