David "DchozN" Cho is a Korean young urban professional. He is Senior Digital Video Editor of Team 3D (Counter-Strike clan), and accordingly E-Sports Entertainment Association LLC, which is the world's largest known online competitive gaming organization, with a membership of 2,144,000 in 2005. (He was born "Daniel Cho," but changed his name from Daniel to David following a family spat.)

General Abstract

He was born on August 28, 1987, in Seoul, Korea. The son of Cho Hyung-Jin and Kim Kwon-Soo, and younger sibling of Charles Cho. He graduated from Northbrook Junior High middle school with top honours, and thereafter enrolled at Glenbrook North high school to pursue further education. His hopes of not having to work appeared thwarted when his father's pornography business went bankrupt. At the same time, he began experimenting with digital video editing equipment from his father's trade, and soon learned Vegas. A keen student, he mastered the software quickly, and became an independent digital movie maker. After forming his own private company, DchozN DesigN (now defunct), he began to make a name for himself by editing Counter-Strike frag movies for various teams.

Raised initially as an Atheist, Cho converted to Buddhist at the age of 18, after being comforted by his brother's Buddhist friend while suffering from amnesia.

Early Career

In May 2001, David was contacted by Craig "Torbull" Levine, CEO of ESEA and manager of Team 3D. Craig saw a bright hopeful future for this blossoming prodigy and offered him a position as a digital video editor. David happily accepted and began his services with a number of product promotional videos for sponsor companies. David then began work on a "Team 3D: Week in Review" series which highlighted frags from Team 3D's Counter-Strike matches.

The weekly series program suffered a setback in January 2002, when David's editing computer underwent severe problems. He asked Torbull for assisstance, who responded by sending David a powerful Dell XPS laptop. David's time with the monster machine was short-lived, however. He purchased new parts to upgrade his previous crashed system and sent the laptop back, much to the dismay of his fellow colleagues who were eagerly anticipating to play with the laptop themselves.

Following those minor setbacks, David once again resumed his editing work once more, despite some continuing ill health problems. Regardless, he went on to produce a suprising amount of quality work during a short timeframe. Of these, the most prolific one would be the Team 3D WCG 2004 montage movie. Praised by many in the digital editing community for it's incredible camera work and synchronization; as well giving the viewer a real sense of the emotion and energy given off by Team 3D's players through creative use of actual event photography curtosy of Ognian "Steel" Gueorguiev. It set a new standard for frag movies and it's innovative influence can be seen in many of today's frag movies.

The success of the WCG 2004 movie surprised many of David's now growing fanbase. It was only then inevitable after setting the bar so high, that his future works would be held in high scrutiny. Critics of David's works commented on the overuse of stylized special effects, to which many simply regarded as the "DchozN effect", a saying made popular with a previous film, c9: Enemy Down. Even with the harsh criticisms, however, David decided to continue to pursue his one of a kind style which eventually progressed to what can be seen in David's latest work, Lunatic Project. A combination of intense action and mind-blowing effects led the movie to win top honors in the CEVO Thermaltake contest, beating out several top digital film editors' works.

David's next big endeavor will be a frag movie starring Ronald "Rambo" Kim, and is currently in production, scheduled to be released later this year.

In addition to his native Korean, David is fluent in English, German, and Polish.
