de_chateau is a fairly popular Bomb/Defusal map in the first-person shooter game Counter-Strike.

The map

The map consists of a two-story house, presumably a chateau, where both Terrorist and Counter-Terrorist forces begin outside the home on opposite ends. It's evident that the home has already been attacked with explosives, probably by an earlier group of Terrorists who were foiled in their attempt to reach one of the main bombing objectives, and so now a second wave is sent in to finish the job. In the game, the Terrorists enter the home through a shallow creek or moat that in one direction takes them to the garden marked as Bombsite A, or in the other direction takes them into the home through a wine cellar that leads to a square room marked Bombsite B. One of the unique points of this map is that both bombsites are open vertically and bordered by two levels, meaning that somebody planting/defusing the bomb at either site could be interrupted from an enemy shooting on their own level, or shot at from above.

Analysis

This is the only bomb/defusal map <!--that I know of-->in the official Counter-Strike: Source map list where the Terrorists can rush to a bombsite (Bombsite A) and get there before Counter-Terrorist forces. That means with a well-executed rush, the Terrorists can get the bomb planted and move into a defensive position before the Counter-Terrorists arrive. However, while being able to reach the garden first, the Terrorists don't have quick access to the second-story windows bordering the garden. Counter-Terrorist forces can rush to those higher windows and even if the Terrorists get there first, they can snipe at their defensive positions from above.

Bombsite B is more complex, due to the fact that it is completely surrounded (all 4 sides) by two levels of hallways shrouded in shadows. Counter-Terrorists can reach this bombsite first and plant a few gunmen in the corners to suprise their opponents.
