Inferno's (identical to 1.6) Bombsite 'B' from CS:Condition
Zero.
Inferno's Bombsite 'B' from CS:Source.
Background
De inferno (
de_inferno) is a medium sized map for
counter-strike created by Chris 'Barney' Auty, and is one of the 'official'
counter-strike tournament maps.
It was added to
Counter-Strike in version 1.1 on June 27th 1999.
It was subsequentally changed in the beta version on January 16th 2003.
Inferno was released with
Counter-Strike: Condition Zero on March 23rd 2004.
Inferno is a 'bomb defuse' map (see
Counter-Strike Maps )and is reminiscent of a rural Italian or Spanish town.
De_inferno was added to
Counter-Strike:Source on May 12th 2005 and features radical changes to level design from it's previous encarnations.
Remade from the ground up by
Turtle Rock Studios, Inferno has made full use of the Source Engine implementing physics objects and a lavish attention to detail; such as a 'realistic' fishpond, many ambient sounds and destructable scenery at both bombsites.
For terrorists, there are four possible routes to the bombsites, but none are exclusive increasing the chance of meeting the opposition.
Tactics for Terrorist's are commonly a quick rushing of Bombsite 'A', or negotiating the corridor's of the 'apartments' to reach bombsite 'B'.
Counter Terrorist tactic's tend towards meeting any rushing Terrorist's at the approach to 'A' or taking a left from 'CT spawn' to engage in mid-distance shootouts at 'middle'.
This being the case, the remaining player's taking advantage of the cover provided indoors leading to silent hunting and close quarters battles.
Changes for CS:S
Up to date there have been issues with Inferno in Source owning to the level of detail causing lag at choke points such as the 'middle' street leading to 'Tower' due to the number of destructable physics props that can be affected by HE Grenades.
Other players have noted that the new layout was fundamentally different from the old 1.6 map, for example the sniper nest that could be reached by ladder at 'Tower' near the entrance to 'Apartment' has been replaced by improved sight lines through 'middle'.
The small bridge at 'Bombsite B' has also been removed and replacement 'camping' areas added.
