Dead End is a 2003 horror film directed by Jean-Baptiste Andrea and Fabrice Canepa.

Plot

On Christmas Eve, Frank Harrington (Ray Wise) is driving with his family, composed of his wife Laura (Lin Shaye), his son Richard (Mick Cain) and his daughter Marion (Alexandra Holden) and her boyfriend Brad (Billy Asher), to have Christmas dinner at the home of Frank's mother-in-law. Frank decides to drive through an unknown shortcut using a secondary road, where horrific events follow his family following a near accident when Frank briefly falls asleep at the wheel.

They encounter a mysterious woman in white (Amber Smith) wandering through the forest with her baby, leaving death in her wake. Also, a terrifying black car — its driver invisible — carries the victims into the heart of the night. Moreover, every road sign points to a destination they never reach. The sign reads "Marcott", and the dad presumes this is a naval base, and that is why it is on this road and not on the map.

The family succumbs to panic and madness, and deeply buried secrets come to the surface. For them, Christmas has turned into a living hell, and most of the Harrington family dies in the process. Each time a family member dies, they are found in the backseat of a black vehicle which appears in a distance, and eventually passes the family and drives away regardless of how hard they try to stop it; it seems invincible, and only stops to drop the dead victim from the car.

The film comes to an end with the last survivor, Marion, waking up in the car in time to see Frank falling asleep at the wheel and colliding with an oncoming car, driven by the woman previously seen dressed in white and her baby. The accident claims the lives of everyone in the vehicles but Marion. She then wakes up in a hospital and a doctor with the surname "Marcott" is there. It is later revealed that there is a man with the same black car that carried everyone off into the night, who says he's the one who found Marion and called it in. When Marcott's car fails to start, the man with the black car asks her, "Do you want a lift?" and Marcott replies "Sure. Nice car," after which, the the man says "Thanks, I'm a collector."

The credits roll, and then there is a cutscene, involving two roadsweepers cleaning up after the supposedly violent car crash. One picks up a note previously written by the dad; this wipes out the possibility that it was all a dream.
