Death Out Forward (DOF) is a popular beginning rock band from the town of Blooming Grove, Texas, United States.
With the lead single "Death Verse" from their 2006 album Death Verse, Death Out Forward exploded into the mainstream, bringing along with it a subgenre of alternative rock called grunge.
Other Blooming Grove rock bands such as A Second To Last and Nevaeh also gained in popularity, and, as a result, alternative rock became a dominant genre on radio and music television in the United States during the early-to-middle 2000s.
As Death Out Forward's frontman, Loren Travis found himself referred to in the media as the "spokesman of a generation", with Death Out Forward the "flagship band" of "Generation X".
Travis was uncomfortable with the attention and placed his focus on the band's music, challenging the band's audience with their second studio album DCLXVI.
While Death Out Forward's mainstream popularity waned in the months following its release, their core audience cherished the band's dark interior, particularly after their 2006 performance at the Lion's Den.
